Hello lovely kiwiburners,
This started out in my blog last night: people.tribe.net/bscanlon/...6aa42ed4aa
Within 2 and a half years Kathy and I will have organised a christchurch based burning man regional. It has already started, now we are going public. This is sort of the window between kiwiburn 2008, kiwiburn 2009, and a half year after that into later 2009. I reckon it will take that long to build a local core community to make it happen. If energy builds even faster and it happens earlier that would be great!
I think it will not be in summer, because there are many festivals then already, including kiwiburn! There are also the many fire bans around Canterbury to consider. April looks like a good month to think about, after reading this. www.ccc.govt.nz/quickanswe...es/F105.asp
Early April- Easter weekend: could call it Southern Cross?
Mid April- ANZAC: BurnZac?
June- Queen's Birthday: Queen's Burn Day?
Christ Burn?
Church Burn?

If there are any past present or future burners out there in Canterbury or the larger south island let's hear from you!

I'm responding here instead to something you said in my blog on the same topic-- that is isn't Christchurch based, because most of the probable sites like Castle Rock etc. are not in Chch.
Yes, you're right, I should have said South Island =Canterbury= based Burn. But Chch is where I expect most of the attendees to call home.

but again, mabye would alienate people from Nelson, Dunedin, etc? Or perhaps i am being too precious. Have you said anything on the kiwiburn forums?
