So I made a random comment and people seem keen. I don't even know what Camp Nuclear Bass is yet. Another music camp is just another music camp. How about some attempt to cause physical liquification without causing permanent hearing loss?
But I've too much planned in for KB08 already. So if anyone wants to take this idea on, go for it.

Re: Camp Nuclear Bass
Wed, May 2, 2007 - 6:05 PMSomeone on ePlaya suggested a simulated nuclear explosion as part of the Green Man theme...
If someone wanted to gift me a couple of thousand tonnes of NH4NO3 fertiliser then that would be a cool art project. I'm thinking in the woods opposite the "playa", which would have the advantage that it would maintain a safety distance and all the trees would look good falling over and burning..
We'd just have to think of suitable accompaniment music - I'd reckon "nosebleed"... -

Wed, May 2, 2007 - 8:55 PMRound Mangakino, there'll be plenty of suppliers of fertiliser and diesel...
Good luck with the consenting process for that. -

Re: Camp Nuclear Bass
Thu, May 3, 2007 - 4:38 AMit's not that hard to produce low bass frequencies. The challenge is to have the equipment to play it on. imo. -

Thu, May 3, 2007 - 6:22 PMIt's about $500 a tonne - I just checked. Apparently most farmers in NZ use urea instead.
$500,000 is an expensive bang - I wonder who might sponsor it - Black Sabbath? -

Sun, May 6, 2007 - 5:27 PMYes!
I know how to estimate yield from large explosions - you drop bits of paper and see how far they get deflected when the shock wave hits.

Re: Camp Nuclear Bass
Mon, May 14, 2007 - 9:13 PM8,000 Watts (of bass alone) is pretty good. But it ain't that big, really. Most big rock concerts would have a lot more than that.
At it's largest, the gathering had a 120,000 Watt system. (And i got to play on it, yay!) But it needed it, that zone was the size of two football fields.
:)

Re: Camp Nuclear Bass
Tue, May 15, 2007 - 2:47 AMyea thats the thing, we don't want to fill two foot ball feilds with it (the sound) we wanna stand in front of it and feel it for our selves........

Re: Camp Nuclear Bass
Tue, May 15, 2007 - 1:57 PM:P you negatron :)
naw it aint that (big rock concert) big, but i've never organised or played on a system that big. an 8k system is certainly not tiny though :) we may be able to make it larger, depending on how many contributers we get as well...we're still 9 months out *grin* -

Re: Camp Nuclear Bass
Wed, May 16, 2007 - 5:31 AMoh, it's certainly big enough. If you were standing next to it, with the right music, your bowels would move :)
