the green fairy was excellent, and everyone from there is just beautiful
the Cheap end/ the sheep end went off
    pancakes were yummy
throwing the temple and the sky tower on to the man and watching it all go up in one big fire was amazing

It was TOTALLY AWESOME! Felt we were at the beginning of something really really magical which will just get HUGE in the years to come.

I will have pics online in the next few days, and some video of the burn and thunderdome. I hope someone got some video of the gymkhana!

Awesome, awesome, awesome. I am so happy I went. I am still on a high now. It feels so wrong being back in the city. I want to be in a field of beautiful people, love and no bullshit restrictions.

I will be back next year with a theme camp or installation or something to add to the awesomeness. :) More than nine hours notice will help wth that!

Highlights are too subjective for words, I reckon. All of Saturday night, though. The stars and the shiny people. Peaking in the Echo Valley. Thunderdome and the gymkarna. Being chased by little kids while dressed as a bunny. Dr Windy's giant wings. Group burning the temple. On and on and on.

And just meeting excellent people wherever you went, and such an awesome vibe throughout.

If any Burners happen to be in Wellington on Saturday, there's a party at mine, with djs and so on... oh, and I can be more commonly found on the web at my blog/site www.undulatingungulate.com/blog :)

It was awesomely awesome! Everyone was happy, everything went off well. The burn was brilliant - tearing down the temple and carrying it to the flames was a great idea and really got everyone going! Then the fire labyrinth... Then the party went off over at the centred Pink Moa!

Thanks to everyone who said nice things about my DJ set!!!! You are all cool!!

    Yay!

This is me dancing around my house going "We made a party! People came! And they had fun!"

I can't sleep, still too amped.

I have a metric fuckton of photos and they've got as far as my pooter, but that's it for tonight, must sleep.

It was awesome. Made so by the people who came.

(i now have the large scale art installation bug)

        *happy sigh*

i really like how small and intimate it was, i got a chance to talk to almost everyone there and most of all i enjoyed helping dr windy build the temple. tearing it down was so much fun! maybe that should be a kiwiburn tradition... or well just stay away from the powerlines.
it exploded with all the energy and hard work that everyone put into making this happen. i loved every minute of it. thanks for letting me be a part of kiwiburn. hopefully i can make it back next year to make a bigger and better thunderdome as well.

OMG, I hadn't had this much fun for such a concentrated amount of time in I don't know how long. KB exceeded expectations and was everything I could have hoped for. The energy and community spirit were amazing. It's gonna rock even harder next year.

Pancakes, coffee, cookie tree, equestrian races, homemade diggerydos, dancing under the stars, hoola-hooping, smokes n jokes, cute firemen wearing glowsticks, thunderdome, the JAFABs, the firespinners, polly's tea party, body painting, trailer trash, art cars, giant checkers, movies, poetry, chill spaces, the dj's, champagne and midori cocktails, absinthe, everyone makin art in the Green Fairy tent, Sebastian's Kiwi on the hill, the Echo Chamber, the wild pig roast, the Greeter Station, drinking and dancing with the farmer brothers, the missing bull, the man, the temple, the labrynth, and most importantly, the love and friendships made.

Larry Harvey and crew, are you reading this??

Imagine being at burning man back in the early days when there were only one or two hundred people, everyone there was solid 100% burner, there was a perfect number of theme camps people and wilderness so that you could see (almost) everything and it was all REALLY COOL, and meet (almost) everyone and they were all REALLY WONDERFUL.

Imagine at the same time that burner culture had evolved to the point where it is today, the happy gifting loving thing it is now.

Also imagine that it was held in New Zealand, where people are =already= happy and loving and kind and generous that when you amp that up to burner level you are continuously blown away by their soulful gorgeousness. AND that you are camping in a place that is full of natural beauty but NOT hostile to most forms of life as is the playa.

Imagine all of those people in that special place all having this fantabulous time together, and all amping each other up with their continuously building upward spiral of joy.

    Higher! Higher! Higher!

Dude, it was all fabulous all the time, and my only regret is that you were not here to take part.

well it was my first burn of any kind, and I must say i didn't know what to expect when I turned up. Me and my crew had a great time, and are bound to attend next year after convincing a bunch of our friends to come along and share the experience with us. For me the highlight of the event was the people. Everyone was so happy and friendly and kind. How could you have anything but a great time in that atmosphere!

can't wait for next year! will have to make do with spreading the kiwi burn mentality to all in the meantime.

It is absolutely wonderful to read that the event was such a great success. It is my hope that next year's event will coincide with my next trip to NZ and that I will be able to attend with a small contingent of Burners from California. Granted, we may be traveling light, but we will bring plenty of burner spirit (and spirits) to the event. Hearty congratulations to all the participants!

It was 125% awesome. It gracefully exceeded all expectations and then engaged hypermode to shoot it into legendary.

I'd also like to thank everyone for their support during my first live DJ sets in front of a crowd. I was JetPilot and played Friday and Sunday in center camp. I promised some people I'd make CDs for them but didn't get to it. For those people, my music site is jetpilot.ferrouswheel.info where downloadable mixes are available.

Look forward to next year, where I'm going to drag everyone (I like) to it.

My very first Kiwiburn...... and WOW - soooooooo glad I came, didn't know what to expect but was blown away as each day passed. Firstly I couldn't believe the friendliness of people there - what a difference a smile and hello can make to a total stranger, a stranger that was feeling somewhat reserved and intent on sussing out this 'strange' group of people! Nope..... they didn't let me stay hidden for long hahaha and it was me who was the strange one - how wrong perceptions can be!!!!
Met some wild, go-gettem, make it happen people - people that easily inspired me by their passion for Kiwiburn, Burning Man and life in general - it was contagious and it wasn't long before I was mesmerised by this new experience.
And what a piece of land to stay on. There was no beating the shiny still waters of Whakamaru Lake, outlined by pine trees - a truly tranquil place to bathe, refresh and revive under the scorching sun.
Got some great footage of Sunday night - the burning of "The Man".
To Wendy, Myles, Kathy & Bruce, Karen & Jim, Kiwi, Sketchy, Doom Kitten, Xhile, Polly, Gadget, and my dear friends Jack, Sam and Zara..... it was great being there with you guys. Here's to next year!!!!

My mind has so many thoughts in it right now it is difficult for me to write about it right now (maybe a few weeks). It was ideal, exceeded my expectations, and hit the spot that needed to be hit in order for me to stay in NZ. I love you all so much! I know that the magic is not the playa it is the people and the energy that humans can produce anywhere that they are. I think the environment is equally as nasty but in different ways. Fucking sandflies!
Tuatha, you were here in spirt....I am sure you will make it back in the physical sence.
The wildflower seeds have finally sprouted....some seeds are still in the dirt but are about to pop up. Only one negative comment happend and that was related to something they didnt bring (drums) but were equally excited to do a project next year now that they know the 10 principles (some people dont read the website). We converted first aide, council members, and fire department...and they want to sign a 3 year contract that we stay there to have the festival.....enough said I am sure.
I have 4 projects that I will be working on for the next festival and I am not going to BM because I want to make the visions real here.
Peace, love, rainbows, and wooden paddles to you all

Oh yeah and the most important thing to me; the people that have never burned before had the same reaction I had the first time I went to BM. Fucking nuts!

KB was beautiful. It has inspired me in so many ways, I want to create! I have been painting, singing, writing and smiling ever since. I feel the experience has opened my mind and I have been seeing the beauty in everything!
The location was perfect, the people were amazing, the music was great.
I loved the temple and feel uplifted after writing my thoughts and then watching them burn.
I am so there next year.
A big thanks to everyone that made KB the fantastic experience it was.

Kiwiburn was undoubtedly a complete success. That blissful, connecting vibe pumped through the domain with an unfailing beat. I met amazing people on an instant level I've only ever really found on the playa. Now I know it is just as possible on a paddock! :-D It really was a total affirmation that the essence of Burningman can be carried within. Thank you beautiful shiny people!!

Still blown away by how we totally recreated the b/m vibe...really didn't count on having the same experience with 130 people in a paddok in the middle of NZ as i do with 40000 on the playa....but i did....and thats............................................thats amazing!..........really really amazing!

thank you all so so much!!!....love you all x

    Kiwiburn? ................. Where to start?
Fuck I had such a wicked time, such a harmonious atmosphere.
    I felt at home.
Thanks so much to all the organisers and participaters, you changed my life.
The burn........fuck Miles that man was nice. The temple, that was brilliant, all the energy and effort that went into it (Wendy, Polly . . . ).
I can't wait till next year, the ideas are already bubbling.

Very late addition to this post (I am overseas working, and don't look at tribe all that often while away). Yes I think I mentioned to you on direct email how great the event was. I am still reeling in the sense of happiness at where the event has come since 2004 when I set light to a man at Visionz to an audience of 200 people and said THIS IS KIWIBURN. Its great Tuatha. So great that it takes the angst away from HAVING to get to the playa to get to BM. Its happened through a big group effort, cf the old days where "if Yonderman does nothing, nothing will happen". As Allyn said "if you put up your hand help will come" and thats what happened. We have a committee, we have critical mass, we have art, we have performance, we have community. We have it all.
